Really great customer service. Originally came to McDermott motors a few years ago because they were able to get hard to find low profile winter tires. They worked hard to source the tires and delivered on my request when other suppliers couldn't. I began using them for service after that and have been very pleased with every visit. You can tell they care. They've always been very honest and are fair with their pricing. Would highly recommend taking your vehicle there for any time of maintenance.

Great experiences dealing with the team at McDermott Motors. They are efficient, effective, and most importantly, honest. They are totally transparent about their diagnosis and recommend fixes that are good value for the customer. I've had lots of work done on both of my cars. Excellent experience every time. Prospective customers should plan ahead and book appointments a few days in advance. These guys are very busy, for good reason: they are one of the best garages in the downtown core.

Finding a good garage isn't easy. When our trusted mechanic of many years moved I was careful to research and came across McDermott, which had a lot of very good reviews. The reviews were true. The service was excellent but what was remarkable was the sense of calm and organization. To be honest, I avoid smaller garages; to me they're stressful (and not usually stressed): the morning crush, the mess and the smell of old machinery. The McDermott office was clean uncluttered and organized, more like a larger organization. The guys were very friendly relaxed and professional. Great service and a pleasant experience.

Fair and decent, and very good service. They are open about your options, and are not pushy about non-essential work. They found a second-hand A/C compressor as the cost for a new one was quite high, but were up front about the risks. It's worked out great so far. I have been going there for a year and a half, and I always have the impression that they are doing what makes the most sense for me and my car.

Everyone at McDermott Motors is extremely professional and knowledgeable, and is supremely cognizant about trying to keep your car repair charges down. They took an open ended problem (my power steering pump was leaking fluid after a repair at a different shop 6 months ago) and worked extraordinarily hard to diagnose and solve the problem at little expense. They hunted down a tiny replacement piece, instead of taking the easy way and replacing the whole pump. This saved me at least a hundred dollars. These guys are busy for a reason: they know what they are doing.

after passing by this place for more than 15 years, i found myself in need of tires, *and squeaky brakes; so i decided to research them... *so many good reviews (could this be real?) i called and they fit me in on the day i requested, and did a thorough meet/greet thing, and told me about the on-line estimate they send you with pictures of the parts that need attention (really cool) and a follow up call to discuss cost. no hard sell, just the facts about what has to be done, and what may need attention in future. **also, no surprise charges, they stick to the estimate, and not a penny higher....i have found my new garage. martin and emma are really nice as well, customer service is also really important, and they make you feel at ease and talk to you like you are a regular already...

A stellar performance by McDermott Motors. Iced snow drifts after the storm last week completely ripped apart the belly shields of my Audi A5 . I brought my car into McDermott Motors and they quickly analyzed the problem and ordered replacement shields and managed to get them installed on my car within a few days. Invoice for parts and labour was fair and the people in the shop are great. I will definitely continue to patronize their services.

Brought my BMW here for an oil change as a first time customer. I was given a complimentary vehicle inspection as well, and very pleased with the thoroughness and detail of the report. I knew beforehand that I was due for an alignment and ready to pay for it, however, the service manager (Martin) suggested that I wait until after I purchase new tires before doing an alignment. This really made me appreciate the honesty and diligence of the staff. Overall, fantastic attention to detail, and an auto shop that will be honest with required repairs. I will be taking all my cars here for future modifications and maintenance.

Very thankful to McDermott Motors for getting me in so quickly. I had a trip out of town coming up, and of course waited too long to get winter tires put on. They were able to get a quote together and have the tires on in a matter of a few days. Staff at the shop was knowledgeable and friendly. Would recommend. Before brought my car in, read all the good reviews here. Had a high expectation when walked in. And McDermott didn't fail it. The staffs are super friendly, the condition report is detailed, the quote is transparent and upfront and the work gets scheduled quickly and done within a short window. The Vehicle Condition Report is intimidating for someone doesn't know a car much. But McDermott (Sam - the advisor) walked it through with patience and explained in great detail. The price is competitive and align with the quality of the work. Will for sure come back for regular service going forward and will recommend McDermott to anyone looking for a good auto shop in downtown. Thanks John, Sam and Martin.

I discovered my completely flat tire as I was hopping into my car on my way to work. I quickly called McDermott Motors and asked if I could get the flat repaired. They said I could bring it in right away, no problem. So I threw my spare on and brought my car over in the next 5 minutes. Within 2 hours, I got a call saying my car was ready. They did an amazing job - even put my spare neatly back into my trunk with the tools. I will 100% be back to McDermott Motors! A+++++! Thanks for helping me so quickly!

I love this place because of the service. They know you are coming and greet you by name when you walk in the door. The explain clearly what issues, if any, are taking place and actually show pictures of what they are talking about so you can see for yourself. Recently I a had a sudden issue with my transmission and my car wouldn't get out of first gear. I was stuck on the streets unable to reverse into my narrow parking spot at home. In a panic I called McDermott right in the middle of tire swapping season. They took me in same day. No worries. This week I was due for an oil change and again was reminded of what great customer service looks like. I felt compelled to write a review. I'm so fortunate to have a trusted mechanic so close to my home and work.

When you drive a luxury vehicle, servicing it can cost you an arm and a leg at most dealers and auto shops. But NOT at McDermott Motors. I chose them because they gave me a fair price estimate, delivered great customer service, and didn’t try to rip me off by suggesting additional things that my car didn’t need. I was pleasantly surprised by their promptitude and professionalism – in particular, getting a Vehicle Condition Report by email was surely a value added service. It was my first time there and it definitely won’t be my last. Highly recommended!

Have a 2009 Mini Cooper S. Rotten little car. Despite very low mileage, has suffered a litany of issues too boring to recite. Last visit to OEM dealer saw much hanging of crepe about oil leak and need for major engine work. Nothing like that on McDermott's review. Friendly team. Fast service. Documentation superb. Straight shooters re: what could be put off and what needed urgent attention. Fixed some issues, put on 2 new tires, car running fine. Not cheap, but much better value than Mini Downtown. Won't ever buy another Mini; won't ever take this lemon anywhere else until we trade it or it dies.

Simply great. The way they send you your car report to the way they take care of their clients are second to none. Took my A5 there for general maintenance and winter tire change. Not for a second i felt pressurized to do any unnecessary work on the car in fact they recommend you to do some of the stuff later that are not necessary with no rush. The icing on the cake for my experience with them came at the pick up time. When they took my summer tires to their storage by mistake, but instead of asking me to come back later and waste my time they offered to keep my tires till spring for free. Don't think twice you won't regret it

I had previously taken my car to McDermott motors about 10 years ago, but moved out of the area. I had occasion to have my car towed there recently. James' team diagnosed the problem and advised that the failure may have been covered under a recall. I confirmed this with the dealership and had the car towed to the dealer where the work was done at no cost. I appreciate the integrity of McDermott Motors and am glad they still deal with their customers in a transparent and caring manner.

McDermott Motors is a true treasure in the City. To find honest, competent and caring mechanics is almost a miracle. They have kept one of my vehicles going for over 400,000 kms. They have protected my family from problems by finding them before we are aware of them and showing us the evidence to justify the work. Their prices are fair, their attitude is positive and they are always willing to go the extra mile. I hesitated about writing this in case it meant that they get too busy to deal with my cars. But it is only right to share the knowledge with others who care about their cars and their family's safety. Don't bother with any other mechanics. You won't do better anywhere else. P.S. The one and only one star review was made by me in error by pressing the wrong button! Ignore it! This is a five+ star operation!

Got my GLK250 services here and brakes previously. These guys are awesome! They don’t up sell and stand by their work. My brakes were squealing 6 months after I got them changed and they replaced the rotors again no questions asked. The service is also meaningful, they will guide you on what you need to do. Highly recommend! Excellent work and reasonable pricing.

The experience is absolutely amazing! I booked the appointment a week ago. The day before the appointment I called and asked for delivery time cuz I only have half day off.They told me to pick up the car around 1pm but I received the inspection report around 10am and they called me that my car was ready around 10:30am. They charged 1/3 of the price at 4s dealership and did a better job! It is definitely worth your money and time considering the job done, the location and the attitude.

This is like an apple store of vehicle maintenance. I have finally found my new mechanic since I left my old mechanic. These guys are the best! And they're more than just tires, although we've bought more than one set from them over the past few years. My truck broke down due to a coolant leak on route to Niagara Falls, I was able to limp it to their garage after hours. Audi A3(2008) engine light came on. Came here because they had expertise in German cars, and had a lot of good reviews. They found the problem, which was a broken seal that resulted in air leaking into the engine. They also uncovered a worn fuel pump tappet problem and recommended me to fix it, as it may damage the camshaft and lead to a very expensive repair. The engine repair was a big one, so I was hesitant to go ahead. But all the good reviews here and the fact that they stand by their work with their standard service warranty gave me the peace of mind and confidence to go ahead. I would not have enough trust to do this repair in another shop. Technician John was helpful, honest and upfront with the price, and explained the problem of the car clearly to me.

I have been taking my BMW to them for more than a year now. Completely satisfied with their service and transparency with detailed car report. They always help you to avoid unnecessary costs by clearly indicating what's recommended to be fixed now and what needs to be monitored. I would highly recommend this place.

Very responsive, professional shop in my neighborhood. Car repairs and maintenance are always painful, but McDermott is courteous and professional, and they don't hold you hostage when there's a decision about the service they're suggesting you undertake. They give you the facts, recommendations and show pictures to you (sometimes remotely) so you can make a decision as to how to proceed with your car. They're also straightforward and open with the pricing, and don't try to pressure you to do work on the car that you don't want to do. They store and change the winter tires for me as well (for a fee) which is convenient.

What a pleasure it is to discover a garage in the downtown core that believes honesty, professionalism, and friendliness are core values. After being told by another garage that I needed expensive work done, I decided (based on the positive reviews) to take a chance with McDermott Motors. After inspecting the potential problem, McDermott Motors told me that I didn’t need any work done on my car at all. They tightened a couple of loose bolts and I was on my way, satisfied that I discovered the ideal garage to take my car for all future repairs and maintenance.

McDermott Motors is a great place to take your car for maintenance and repairs. They give you a detailed report of what needs to be repaired and include pictures in the report. The guys are also super nice and have great customer service skills. The most important thing is that the price quotes are fair and they do quality work.

Quick and easy tire mounting and balancing. They schedule me in. They sent me an email the day before to confirm. They took my car in and had it ready when they said they would. No surprises with pricing or time. Great, convenient experience. I've often paid more at the dealership, but will start using McDermott instead. Live in Cabbagetown so it's an easy walk over here.

Great place, honest guys. They might try to upsell you but awesome work. For example, I was getting about 2k in work done for my car and I had my emergency break stuck. I was ready to replace it and pay them but they worked on it for over an hour and got it unstuck, saved me money and didn't charge me for the labour.

Honest, accurate, customer focused. Left my car in front of their garage after calling in the morning appointment and asking for a quote. I dropped the keys in their exhaust port. They did the alignment as estimated, provided the list of adjustments they made, did not irritate me with upsells, treated my car with respect, and the car drives perfect. Highly recommend these folks.

I had a problem with the ignition on my BMW X3 engine. This happened on weekend and I started looking for help on Monday. Despite being fully booked for that week John and his team managed to find a time slot for me, so my car was ready for the next weekend when I needed it. It was my second appointment with McDermott Motors, first time it was air conditioner repair. In both cases it was very positive experience: really professional approach, everything done on time with a good quality, reasonable price. I would recommend this repair facility for European cars without any doubts.

Wonderful service with great value. I went for a break fluid flush. They had the most competitive price in downtown Toronto. Their service was very professional and quick. Follow up was excellent. First time I went to McDermotts. What I thought I needed was not an issue. They did however recommend another repair which I had them do. Dropped vehicle in early morning and it was done same day. I found them to be polite, professional and fairly priced. Added benefit was only 10 minute walk away from where I live. I highly recommend this business.

We have been taking our vehicles to McDermott Motors for several years and they are OUTSTANDING! I send all my friends there and they are also delighted with the experience. Their work is always first rate, done in a timely manner for a reasonable price (far lower than dealerships). Recently, I had a battery in my Honda Pilot than was constantly failing on me and John offered to replace it (as the existing battery had been installed by them over a year ago). Did not drive my 12year old vehicle for almost 2 years, so of course it would not start. Took my vehicle to McDermott Motors hoping to get my “monster” in shape and drivable. After an oil change, battery replacement and fixing the never ending leaks, my monster is purring like a lean mean machine. I originally searched online for a German car specialist, because going through my dealership was such a painful headache (for my wallet and the entire customer service experience). Everyone here is extremely knowledgeable and kind. I once came by within the span of an hour call beforehand, because my coolant sensor went off and I was quite concerned. They were able to diagnose the problem within minutes and top up my coolant *for free*. They explained that it was a simple reader error based on the fluid levels, so toping it off fixed it. They definitely calmed me down, and sent me off on my way. Every time I take my car here, I feel safer on the road. The specialists handle my car with care and really understand how to maintain this type of car. The prices are absolutely amazing (BEYOND fair) and so is the customer service. Even if you don’t truly require a mechanic that specializes in certain car brands, please don’t hesitate to take your car here. They are truly one of the best in the city, if not the very best.

I own two Land Rovers and one is particularly old and temperamental. I have been a McDermott customer for 3 years now and cannot say enough good things about the service and the transparency and the fairness of their approach. I have never experienced the 'you should do your x now because they might fail' upsell in fact quite the opposite of getting value for money for your service and parts. The way they have embraced technology and efficiently show you what needs doing and why with pictures is great. The customer service is fantastic and the guys are always helpful and cheerful!

I needed 2 new front tires. Jason was professional and very courteous from the moment he picked up my call. All the staff I spoke to were the same. Jason ordered the tires, they were available when expected and I was offered a loaner car. Tires were installed and a wheel alignment performed - my car was ready in a few hours. All necessary pandemic precautions were taken. I felt safe and well-looked after. Highly recommended.

Having been frustrated with my experience at certain car dealerships in the city, I found McDermott online and began taking my cars to them a couple years ago. All my experiences with them have been positive, and I would highly recommend to others. The service is fast and easy, and they seem to be straight forward and honest. Their system for reporting back to customers using an online report with pictures and analysis is efficient, helpful and re-assuring. Now McDermott Motors Shouldn’t be needing any more introductions and the tons of appreciations in reviews makes it widely clear that they are simply the best in this line of work. I wasn’t sure about my Vehicle’s overall condition as it was quite some time since the last service. In a few hours after the drop I got a detailed digital report about essential functions and parts with photos and recommendations. They also called me to discuss the report and explained everything I needed to know. They were very proactive in their approach and It felt nice being attended to without rushing through things. The quotes were also very reasonable. John and team are professionals of high standards and they are welcoming, honest and flexible in their work. I’d go there again and highly recommend folks in and around GTA to visit them when in need of a Vehicle service.

The prices seem quite reasonable and I am blown away by their attention to detail. Even me and my old beater get treated with respect. I needed a safety inspection to transfer my plates from Québec to Ontario and they gave me an amazing service! (I was very stressed out because I had to go through the same process in 2019. I had a very bad experience with another garage in Etobicoke. They were trying to rip me off telling me my 3 years old car needed 2000$ worth of repair to pass the safety inspection when it was not true.) This place gave me a great service, they didn't charge me for stupid stuff, I think I paid a fair price and I will come back for sure. 10/10 ! Thank you so much

I began taking my Camry to McDermott Motors Tirecraft 3 years ago and am glad I found my mechanics for life! I've been driving over 20 years and this is the best garage I've found. The work is incredibly well done and all safety checks are just as important to them as they are to me. Communication is always clear and effortless, and I can trust that my car is running well and running safely. I don't worry that a tool will be left where it doesn't belong and whether the lugs on my wheels are fully tightened (these are real things that other garages have done in the past, the latter causing the wheel of the car to fall off mid ride). I also really appreciate the full service report after every visit!

Not only did they loan me a screw driver, but they loaned me another one when I had asked for the wrong type the first time! They were extremely helpful and courteous to me, a non customer. Super friendly staff and great customer service. One of the few mechanics in the city that does not try to up-sell on repairs. I have been going here for many years and I only trust them to do any repairs on my vehicle. I recently had to repair my breaks and I ran into issues with the new piece they installed. However, they ordered a new piece under warranty very quickly and even offered to comp my tow truck expense. Highly recommend.

I just went there to change my wheels and order a new tires. They were very patient and taking their time to explain to me whenever I have a question even though they are quite busy.
